Why Emergency Medical Travel Insurance is Essential for Every Traveller
Emergencies don't discriminate. Regardless of your health or fitness, unforeseen illnesses and injuries can happen anytime, anywhere—making emergency medical travel insurance a must for conscious travellers. High medical costs overseas can quickly turn a small emergency into a financial disaster. That's why WAS Travel Insurance strives to provide emergency medical coverage that helps you manage unforeseen medical expenses without lasting financial burdens.

What's Not Covered:
We offer transparency at WAS. We think it’s important for policyholders to be crystal clear on what's not covered within this emergency medical benefit:
- Any pre-existing medical conditions not listed as automatically covered.
- Routine or expected medical or dental treatments or diagnostics.
- Medical costs incurred in Australia or onboard a cruise ship, except as specified.
- Treatment that can reasonably be delayed until you return to Australia.

Emergency Medical Travel Insurance FAQs
Seek immediate medical attention, inform local authorities if necessary, and contact our 24/7 emergency assistance for guidance and to initiate the claims process.
You must purchase coverage before departing Australia. This will ensure that you are fully protected from the start of your trip.
Emergency dental treatment is covered up to $2,000 for the immediate relief of pain and discomfort to sound, healthy and natural teeth and for emergency repairs to dentures and orthodontic appliances.
The coverage limit for emergency medical expenses is detailed in the Schedule of Benefits in the PDS. It's designed to sufficiently cover the costs associated with unexpected overseas medical treatments, hospital stays, and necessary medical transportation to the nearest suitable hospital.
Please contact us before your current policy expires if you plan to extend your trip. While you can often extend your coverage, it's subject to approval based on your travel plans and any changes in your health status during the trip.
If medically necessary, we will cover your repatriation costs to Australia. This includes economy class travel and reasonable accommodation costs for an accompanying person if deemed essential by our Medical Officer.
Note: Not all benefits apply and will depend on whether you have selected them (and they are reflected on your Certificate of Insurance). Terms, conditions, exclusions, sub-limits, and limits apply. Please read the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and Target Market Determination (TMD) for further details.
